July 5- August 4
About the Program:
Come and participate in one of the Capital District’s longest running performing arts programs dedicated exclusively to children. The Young Actors Guild has helped to set the standard for theater arts education in the Capital District for 26 years, by providing quality arts education to thousands of children. Students study with professional staff during Fall, Spring and Summer Sessions, as well as several Vacation Camps offered throughout the year. All of our students participate in professional quality stage productions, open to the public, at the culmination of each semester of study.
*Students ages 6 – 14* study Music Theory, Vocal Technique, Creative Movement, Choreography, Acting, and Improv, as well as participating on stage in full scale productions. All of this occurs in a safe environment where students develop lasting friendships.
*Students ages 15 – up* study Music Theory and Composition, Vocal Technique, Dance and Choreography, Scene Study, Monologues, Audition Prep, and Set Production, as well as Film making and Playwriting during the summer. Under the guidance of professional staff students are completely involved in all aspects of production, including costumes and make-up, for our Main Stage Productions, evenings of original works, as well as many other opportunities that develop individual and unique creative talents.
*College Internships* For the past 20 years the Young Actors Guild has provided a paid summer Internship program for college students. This program provides valuable hands on application of the skills they are developing at the college level, while working under the direction of Professional Staff.
* High School Apprentice Program* The Young Actors Guild also has a high school apprentice program for students who show leadership in and commitment to the theater arts. This program develops leadership skills, the ability to make sound decisions and a strong work ethic. Students who participate in our apprenticeship program gain an understanding of all aspects of theater, in addition to learning what is required to be part of a strong, motivated, and creative work force.
All of our programming meets or exceeds the NYS Standards for Arts in Education. If you are looking for a program that will help your child develop their own unique creative talents, in an environment where kids are free to be kids, and where they can soar in their character development both on and off stage, then the Young Actors Guild is for you. We have received hundreds of testimonial letters from parents and alumni referencing our students personal and professional development.
